We confirm that we intend to hold the course “Video-EEG in paediatric epilepsies: from seizures to syndromes” in Madrid on September 10-12 2020, with the endorsement of ILAE-EUROPE, the Spanish Epilepsy Society (SEEP), the Niño Jesús University Hospital in Madrid and the Bambino Gesú Hospital in Rome.
The new format of the course will be hybrid: on-site and on-line. We will offer to registered participants the possibility of attending the course in Madrid. Those affected by mobility restrictions or having personal concerns will have the opportunity to attend the event on-line.
The philosophy of this course is to provide a transversal approach to the teaching of paediatric epileptology, by dealing equally with clinical and neurophysiological aspects, as well as subsequent clinical management. The learning objectives are both to review the classic descriptions of epileptic syndromes in infancy, childhood and adolescence and to promote awareness of new advances in this field, while enabling attendees to make optimal use of video-EEG methodology.
The structure of the course will be almost the same as that of the original on-site course. Telematic participatory communication approaches among Faculties and attendees will be applied, such as on-line voting of multi-option questions inserted in the presentations and free discussions (face-to-face and on-line) at the end of the lectures and case presentations.
More than 80 attendees from diverse continents and 20 European Faculties are expected. Even if only a small group of participants come to Madrid, the on-site event will still take place. Should there be an unexpected implantation of severe restrictions, such as closed borders, a quarantine order or a prohibition of international medical conferences, (the course will be held totally on-line)/THE ENTIRE COURSE WILL BE HELD ON-LINE.
A new venue for the course will be decided soon. We will be ready to apply preventive recommendations and protocols.
We are extremely concerned about the protection of personal data and prevention of internet diffusion of images or videos involving minors. Participants will sign a legal declaration agreeing to respect confidentiality.
We look forward to welcoming you to the course!
